Story of Saranapadham

Mochitha started writing a couple of these songs for the background of a section in the TV program Udayamrutham almost 3 years back. Viswajith was just an upcoming music director then and of course no one knew Mochitha as a song writer. Mochitha got so inspired and began to write a few more on the same theme. But they never wanted to make it a song collection then. Viswajith also got busy after that. Kaavalam Sreekumar had also colloborated with the team at that time. Almost two and half years later, they got together again and completed the album. That is why this is not in the format of a regular commercial album.

It seems that Viswajith did the tunes and then chose Sharath to do justice to the choice of melodies and thalam. It is said that Sharath was so impressed with the tunes and readily agreed.

The section in Udayamrutham was called Saranapadham, the same name was given to the album.

Another interesting anecdote is that the 'kallu karadu' song was actually inspired by words that Mochitha's mother had written. Mochitha had picked up the song and polished it to suit the tune.
